Forerunner Lore

Forerunners are creatures with a crystal as a "heart"/"brain" (alike to steven universe's gem species) and can reincarnate and move onto a next life. This is called a "Crystal Heart", and it is the most vital part of a Forerunner. If their Crystal Heart is damaged, they cannot form into reality properly.Forerunners are created by a Voidrunner with unknown origin called "Mother" (or Miphana), who separates a fraction of her power to create a newborn Forerunner. Forerunners start their life as Lightrunners, and as they progress onto future lives, they commonly appear as twins, sharing a "Sibling Soul" with those they were closest to as a Lightrunner. Those who have lost their sibling are lot less powerful than Forerunners with a present sibling.Sibling Souls have to be the same type of Forerunner, as they generally reincarnate together for the rest of their Forerunner cycle.Because of their Crystal Heart, they are able to have Beast Forms as well. These Beast Forms can mingle with their humanoid form, or they can permanently be in their Beast Form for comfort. Generally, Forerunners display themselves as humanoid as that is what a Crystal Heart is set as default.Shadowrunners do not have a baseline form, and rather appear as a shadow with an exposed Crystal Heart (whereas all other Forerunners have their Crystal Heart within their body). They do not have a baseline of a Beast Form either, and can appear as a simple, primitive or uncomplicated mass if they do not effectively "force" themselves to maintain a humanoid/beast form. They are like this because their Crystal Heart prepares for a complete alteration for their next life as a Voidrunner; which is the last and most powerful form of the Forerunners' life cycle.

Shadowrunners and Voidrunners are subjected to "Rampancy"; which is an "illness" that makes them lose their mind and rarely ever become "lucid" enough to hold conversation with others. They are considered as predators to the lower Forerunner types and actively hunt them down to devour. They do this in the very fragmented mindset that they will return to "normal" when they devour other "sane" Forerunners.Forerunners commonly have blue eyes, which is the color of Aura; a life-force energy within all creatures. Because Forerunners are technically considered as "Gods", they have the purest form of Aura within their Crystal Heart. While those with red eyes are Forerunners that have the negative force to life - Abyssal. It is more commonly seen with those who have a level of Rampancy corruption. This often means that they have recovered from Rampancy, or only had a very mild case of Rampancy. Some Forerunners do not have red or blue eyes at all, and may have an entirely different color overall. This is because their Crystal Heart has not fully developed. This is more common in Lightrunners and very rarely carries onto a Forerunner's future lives; but if they do, they are significantly weaker than Forerunners with the basic red/blue eyes. Forerunners that have red/blue eyes can turn to the opposite when they start using their power or slowly lose control of themselves.A Forerunner's eye color is complimentary to their blood color.
